From Campus to Clubs: Swansea Graduate DJ Mykejay Recognised as a Rising Cultural Voice in Wales

Swansea, UK – September 2025 – Michael Olajide Ogunbayo, professionally known as DJ Mykejay, is fast becoming one of Wales’ most dynamic cultural and entertainment figures, blending academic achievement with artistic innovation.

A Lagos-born Nigerian, DJ Mykejay completed his education in Lagos before moving to the United Kingdom. He is a graduate of Lagos State University and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Administration (Nigeria). Most recently, he obtained an MSc in Management (Sustainability) from Swansea University, where his talent as a DJ became an integral part of student and community life.

During his time at Swansea, DJ Mykejay performed at several university events, including the School of Management Postgraduate Welcome Celebration, where his contribution to creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere was formally recognised by the University.

His career has since grown beyond the campus, with performances at leading venues across South Wales such as Savana Bar & Nightclub, Peppermint, and DNA Lounge. His monthly showcase, Swansea Night Out, has become a cultural fixture, celebrating Afrobeat, global sounds, and cross-cultural exchange, and drawing diverse audiences from across the region.

In addition to headline appearances, DJ Mykejay has curated themed cultural events including the Winter Graduation Party (December 2024), the Love Language Valentine’s Special (February 2025), and the Eid-el-Kabir Celebration (June 2025). His ability to combine creativity with cultural relevance has also made him a highly sought-after DJ for weddings, community functions, and international celebrations.

Internationally, he is a registered professional DJ with the Deejay Association of Nigeria (Ojo Lagos Chapter) and serves as CEO of Mykejay Event Ventures, an event management and entertainment company. On 31 August 2025, he was interviewed live on Faaji FM 106.5, one of Nigeria’s leading radio stations, where his vision for music and events was broadcast to a global audience.

Looking ahead, DJ Mykejay is preparing to host renowned Nigerian artists and DJs at upcoming UK events, strengthening ties between Africa and the United Kingdom through music and performance.
